On behalf of the SME/NAMRI Scientific Committee Chair, Chair-Elect, Advisor and Past Chair, and NAMRI President-Elect, we extend a warm invitation to you to contribute your original research manuscripts to the 54th North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC 54). The Conference will be held at The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center State College, Pennsylvania, USA, hosted by The Pennsylvania State University, June 14 -18, 2026.
NAMRC 54 stands as the premier international arena for advanced manufacturing research. Gathering a diverse community estimated at over 800 researchers and manufacturers from around the world, this event serves as a hub for sharing the latest advancements in manufacturing systems and processes, materials removal, additive manufacturing, smart manufacturing, industrial case studies, manufacturing-related education, and sustainable manufacturing.
Submission and Review Procedures
Each paper shall consist of a minimum of 6 (six) pages and a maximum of 12 (twelve) pages. At the end of the reviewing cycle, high-quality papers (around 10%) will be recommended to be fast-tracked to SME's Journal of Manufacturing Systems (JMS) and Journal of Manufacturing Processes (JMP). The final decision is then made by the Editor-in-Chief of each journal. These fast-tracked papers are, therefore, expected to have a similar quality and scientific rigor to a regular paper published in JMS and JMP. You are strongly advised to take a look at the regular papers published in JMS and JMP and prepare your paper accordingly if you are aiming for fast-tracking recommendation.
Papers submitted to NAMRC 54 must be prepared using the conference paper template in Microsoft Word or LaTeX, and they must strictly follow the instructions in the template.
Every accepted paper (including the fast-track papers described above) must be presented in person at NAMRC 54. Unregistered authors (see the deadline below) and/or unpresented papers will be removed from the NAMRC Proceedings scheduled to be published as a special issue in Manufacturing Letters, JMS, or JMP.

NAMRC paper review will be handled by the Scientific Committee of the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME (NAMRI/SME). Each paper will be evaluated by at least three experts before a review decision is made.
Option for Industrial Authors
There is an option for authors from industry to submit an Industry Communication in the form of an extended abstract (~500 words). These contributions, once accepted, will be presented at the conference but will not be included in the conference proceedings. For abstract submission, authors should still use the NAMRC paper template but provide only the title, authors, affiliations, and abstract.
